The Flower Farm mini session theme was not one that the girls voted on. But when I found this beautiful farm, I served up the idea of shooting there to the team and they said yes!
The farm wasn't too far away from where the majority of us live. This private property is beautiful, and hosts events, weddings, concerts, and photographers!
As painstakingly careful as the property owners are when planning and planting sunflower fields (there is definitely a science behind it), they can't help the amount of rain that the sunflower fields get. When all the stars align perfectly, the fields will be planted, and 18 weeks later they bloom.
Literally minutes before I left for this shoot, the property owner called me to say that the sunflower field she had planned for us is now dead, but we'll be able to use a different one instead. The new field was actually a heart shaped sunflower field (perfect for drone photography), but it was in full sun. Ugh. Did I mention that this day was at least 100 degrees? Thankfully, I had a Power Team '21 model assisting me that day. Using my off camera flash to overpower the sun helped to make gorgeous photos of the girls!
The girls did their best to keep as "less hot" as possible that day, and their photos turned out beautifully!
We've got BIG plans for our next mini session theme in December. I know the girls will look gorgeous, and I can't wait to share those images with you!
