Sunflowers are beautiful and happy! Who wouldn’t want to take their picture in the middile of a sunflower field, right?
My Power Team '21 is from Spring, Texas, but we took a road trip an hour away to a beautiful flower farm called Basecamp Farms in Navasota. If you've never been there, I would definitely encourage you to go! The farm has flowers year round, they give tours of their farm, offer wreath making classes in the Fall, have a flower shop with beautiful homemade bouquets, and recently built a gorgeous pavilion for events. I will definitely be going back soon!
Lucky for me, the farm also plants rows of sunflowers specifically for photographers to book for photo shoots. When I found that out, I book an afternoon for team and individual shots. These girls are already gorgeous, but when you put them in a field of sunflowers, magic happens! The week after our team was there, the farm lost 10,000 sunflower to deer! Apparently they had never an issue with deer eating their flowers before, so they're making some changes around their property to prevent that in the future. Sad time for them, but they are moving full steam ahead with more plans for the farm.
These shots were taken at the beginning of October, and I've got to say that it was a bit toasty. I'm constantly working, shooting one girl after another, so I was definitely hot. But since we were in the middle of a field, of course with no shade, the girls were also hot! I've got to say though, you would never know they were melting from the hot Texas sun in these pictures - each girl looked amazing!
Every time I get together with this group of girls, my respect for them grows more and more. They are thoughtful, respectful, and good people!
I'm already looking forward to our next themed shoot in a couple of weeks!
